OpenAI Operator

OpenAI Operator is an agentic AI product that controls a real web browser to perform tasks autonomously. Users give Operator instructions like "book a restaurant" or "find the best flight," and it navigates websites, fills forms, and completes transactions.

Like Claude Computer Use, Operator uses a standard browser user-agent string and doesn't identify itself through traditional means. It interacts with web pages as a human would — clicking, scrolling, typing, and making decisions based on page content.

Operator represents one of the most advanced web-interacting AI agents. Its ability to complete purchases and transactions makes it both an opportunity (as a new customer channel) and a challenge (as it may interact with sites in unexpected ways).
